iOS 13 will soon offer the ability to capture images and videos simultaneously, using both the front and the rear cameras. This feature will be available on the latest iPhones and iPads. The dual camera feature is not exactly something new. We have already seen it on Nokia phones as the Bokeh mode and Dual Camera on Samsung Galaxy devices.
The multi-cam support will let you film the landscape in front of you while the selfie camera captures your reaction to the same. You can store both the videos and images. The new feature and APIs in iOS 13 will let developers offer apps that can stream audio and video simultaneously from the front and the rear camera.
Apple explains that it is also possible to leverage multiple microphones in order to “shape” the sound that is captured. With this in place, developers will be able to offer the picture in picture and spacial audio to their apps.
Apple showcased this feature during WWDC and a segment also showed the ability to swap between the cameras without disturbing the streaming/recording section. Adding to that, developers can use TrueDepth cameras and choose to include a separate stream of Back Wide or Back Telephoto cameras.Sponsor ads:

Owing to the hardware limitations users will only be limited to a single session of multi-cam. Apple has already listed a number of supported formats for multi-camera capture along with the list of supported devices. The multi-cam mode will only be supported on newer iPhones including iPhone XS, XS Max, XR, and iPad Pro.
